Congress acting like BJP did: JD(S)

Bangalore: Opposition leader H.D. Kumaraswamy has accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of doing exactly what the earlier BJP government did—issue a circular  stating that opposition leaders in the assembly or council cannot hold meetings of officials.

The circular signed by then chief secretary, S.V. Ranganath in October, said the DCs and other officials could provide information through presiding officers, however, it was not mandatory on them to attend the meetings convened by opposition leaders.

In 2009, Mr Siddaramaiah, then opposition leader in the  assembly and his counterpart in the upper House, V.S. Ugrappa made a hue and cry over the Yeddyurappa government not allowing them to hold district review meetings.

Referring to  the latest circular, Kumaraswamy said  he did not make this an issue in the Belgaum session. "Those who opposed a similar circular during BJP rule, are doing the same now," he said  disclosing that the mines and geology department did not share information about five companies which  got mining leases after Congress came to power. "

I wrote letters, I sent my aides to get information. They said the file is with the CM’s office. But they have not shared the information," he said.
